Welcome to the Adirondack Luge Club

 Anthony Shimkonis

It's the middle of winter. You're laying on your couch watching television. As you flip through the channels, something catches your eye. You see the unmistakable 5 ring icon of the
Olympics. You find the Winter Olympics is in full swing. An athlete is laying back on a peculiar looking sled with  feet pointed straight ahead, leading the way down a frozen wave of twisting and turning  ice. The speed the athlete flashing across your screen leaves you gobsmacked.

You slump down into position on the couch. You become fixated. Suddenly you find yourself transposed onto the sled. The sound of wind whisps past your helmet with ice-covered walls just inches away, streaking by in a white blur. Your sled chattering over the ice. Navigating from one curve into the next with an amazing synchronization of speed and finesse. Your heart pounding in your chest as your body is pressed into the sled with fighter pilot level G-forces. All too soon, the track bends uphill and the speed begins to bleed away. Seconds after it started, your journey comes to the end of its spirited odyssey. Adrenaline is pumping through your veins. Your breathing echoes in your helmet.  You whisper to yourself, "whoa... this....this is way cool". You can’t wait for the next run…. then you think. What would it really be like to slide down a flume of ice, 30.…60…80, possibly 90+ mph?  !

If you believe this would be a fun way to spend a weekend "relaxing" amongst friends, then you’ve come to the right place.
